For the Bullies

Kids who are bullies, more often than not, have been, or currently are the victim of bullies themselves.

That being said, the foremost consideration is for the protection of whoever is being bullied currently.  If you or someone you know is being bullied, you obligation is to tell someone who can make sure the bullying stops.

Even bullies suffer.  Usually, the main reason why kids act out - in this case in the form of being a bully - is because there is something going on in their lives that they do no like.  Therefore it is important to figure out what is going on, and take steps to offer a helping hand.

For those being Bullied

Are you kids doing any of these?

    * Not wanting to go to school
    * Grades dropping
    * Fakes getting sick
    * Starts acting differently
    * Posessions are often "lossed" or destroyed
    * Asks for extra lunch money, utensils

If so there is a chance they are being bullied at school.  Of course, with behavior change, there can be a number of things that are going on with your kid.

As parents, always stay vigilant of your kid's behavior.  If there are sudden changes, that usually means there is something going on.

If it's bullying you will want to talk to the school administrators and they can usually resolve the issue.  If they refuse to do anything, there are a number of things you can do, even as far as pressing criminal charges against the bully.

The shame that accompanies being bullied can lead to mental health problems, and if that is the case, counseling can help.
