Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
We take Cenpatico for the foster care program. However, it is our experience that taking insurance strains our resources, and depletes our clinicians ability to give you the attention that you deserve. At this time we do not take insurance for any programs other than foster care. We can provide you with documentation so that you can be reimbursed for "out of network" expenses by your insurance provider. If you plan on being reimbursed "out of network" by your insurance, please consult with them to evaluate your benefits prior to scheduling an appointment, and ask about "out of network benefits" for "outpatient mental health."
It is also worth mentioning that you can be reimbursed if you have a FSA or an HSFA account. Counseling services by a licensed professional is covered by this as well.
Does Pursuit of Happiness Offer Financing?
While our office is not equipped to handle financing ourselves, we do offer financing through Clark Behavioral Health. You can take a look at their website here.
Are mental health services tax deductible?
Many people do not know that many medical expenses, including mental health, are tax deductible. However, most deductions cannot be taken until you have spent at least 7.5% of your adjusted gross income on medical expenses. For example, if you are making $40,000 per year, you must have already spent $3,000 on medical expenses. Any expenses after that are tax deductible. Please consult a tax professional for more information. Here is a link to the IRS website explaining this topic in more detail.
Will people think I'm "crazy" if I see a seek help?
Visiting a counselor is strictly confidential. Only those that you specifically grant permission in a written release will be able to access your information, unless you are a minor, in which case your legal guardians have access by law.
People seek help for any number of reasons. Those who are actually "crazy" don't seek help. Trying to improve yourself is an innate human drive. Some people decline the help for a variety of reasons. But the help is here, and you'd be "crazy" not to accept it!
How much is it for just one session? What should I expect?
Pursuit of Happiness offers a wide range of services. Rather than offer a menu to choose from, we find it more useful to know something about you first, so that we can recommend an appropriate level of service. A typical client will be seen once a week for 50 minute sessions. We would usually expect that a client would no longer require services after approximately 10-15 sessions. However, you may not be typical. Offering a variety of services offers the flexibility to ensure that you are properly treated and have reached maximum potential before ending therapy.
If for some reason you decide that the therapist is not a good fit for you, or the therapist believes they may not be helpful, he or she will assist you in finding a therapist who can best meet your needs. No hard feelings. Our goal is YOU!
Please give us a call or fill out one of the live forms that can be found on this website for more information.
