Unplanned teenage pregancy can have distressing effects for not only the pregnant teenager, but also the family of the teenager as well.

The teenager often does not have the resources to support raising a child, and thus the burden is shifted on to the teenager's family. This can put considerable strain on what may have already been limited resources.

When a family is pushed to this much financial stress, short tempers, hurtful words, and dissatisfaction can follow.

The psychological health of the mother, and of the mother's family, is of the utmost importance. At the end of the day, a new human is being brought into the world, and it is our obligation, not just as individuals, but as a society, to ensure that this new life has every chance possible.
